Vote on Biodiesel Tax Credit Delayed
Fri, 28 May 2010 5:54:56 CDT

A vote in the House on a
bill addressing tax cuts and social spending - including several agriculture
related issues - is not likely to happen until after the Memorial Day holiday
recess. Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin - Blue Dog Coalition
co-chairwoman - said Thursday that given the timetable the House is on - they’ll
have to grapple with the tax extenders measure after Memorial Day. Herseth
Sandlin says part of the problem is leadership was shy of the votes needed to
pass the bill.

package and more could be coming if Texas Representative Henry Cuellar has his
way. He wants to lessen is impact on the deficit. The package adds 84-billion
dollars to the deficit.

incentive renewal; ag disaster funds and - as was announced last Friday - funds
to settle the Pigford case. The Pigford case funds would go to minorities who
were wronged through Farm Service Agency administered programs.
