Carlinville Water Problems Improving
Mon, 08 Feb 2010 11:03:44 CST
Following a major water main break in the Carlinville water supply system things are beginning to return to normal.

Officials said this morning that the water line break was in a 1905 water main . located near CrumyStone Road. The old line has been capped and a new line is now supplying the city with water from the treatment plant. Currently water pressure is estimated at 80%.

Full water pressure is not expected immediately and the water tower needs to be sanatized.

Carlinville residents will need to boil their water until further notice and water conservation is still being urged. Everyone on the water system is asked to put off washing clothes, using dish washers and similar high water usage equipment for a while longer.

Water will continue to be given out at the Carlinville City Hall parking lot by the gallon until further notice.
