Hillsboro City Council Goes With The County For Animal Services

(Hillsboro)--A long discussion regarding a new animal control officer in Hillsboro took place during Tuesday‘s Hillsboro City Council meeting. According to Commissioner Connie Hill, the city has two options to consider. The first is to hire a new person; the second is to sign an agreement with the county for animal control services. The City Council approved a contract with Montgomery County for animal services.

Chance‘s Building Update

The Hillsboro City Council also heard an update regarding the Chance‘s building. Reportedly the City has filed a complaint in Montgomery County on the building. American General has been notified of the complaint, and has until after Labor Day to respond.

Farmer‘s Market

The City Council also has a discussion regarding the Farmer‘s Market in Hillsboro. Currently vendors pay ten dollars for a city permit, and a five dollar chamber fee for the market. Under city ordinance, street vendors could pay a fifty dollar annual permit fee. The City Council approved to charge the Chamber of Commerce the fifty dollar fee to cover the market.

Reappointments and Appointments

The Hillsboro City Council approved the reappointment of David Hough to the Police and Fire Board. They also approved the appointment of Lynn Fugate to the City‘s Zoning Board, and Guy Sheridan to the Historic Preservation Committee.

The Escape For Sale?

The Hillsboro City Council then went into closed session for the discussion of the possible sale of "The Escape." No action was taken when the council came back into open session.
